Elke began her career in ceramics studying in Graz, Austria under Prof. Hanns Adametz. He influenced her greatly with his ability to create interplays of form & color.
After this she moved to Dachau, Germany to work with Prof. Gerd von Stokar. One year later she moved to Bad Gams, Austria to study ceramic’s most basic form, pottery for two years. She then relocated to Norway, to realize one of her dreams of working with Magne Kvilstad. Then she spent two wonderful years working with Odd & Kari Gjerstad, former students of acclaimed ceramicist Arno Lehmann.
Elke has been, and still is, working and exhibiting as a free-lance artist at her own ceramic studio in Deutschlandberg, Austria which she opened in 1972. She continues to travel, study and teach – but most importantly she continues to develop and express herself as a ceramic artist.
